Aged just 20, Joker is an immensely precocious talent, he burst onto the Dubstep and Grime scenes in 2008 with the vibrant ‘Grimey Princess’ and ‘Gully Brook Lane’ which were released on Earwax and Plastician’s Terrorhythm imprint respectively. His productions possess a rare duality of intense and nonchalant energy, the soundtrack to a pimp on an interstellar journey.

Joker’s musical peers include Rustie, Gemmy and Kode 9, the recognised tastemaker and man behind Hyperdub who identified Joker as one to watch when he named him as his protégée for Mary Anne Hobbs’ hugely seminal follow-up to Dubstep Wars, Generation Bass; broadcast worldwide on BBC Radio 1.

Joker’s video can be viewed on Youtube and in testament to the level of interest in this Bristolian talent, continues to be the highest viewed video of the Maida Vale session.

Joker has remixed Roni Size, Simian Mobile Disco and Lil Boots, his productions are battered by DJs including Skream, Rustie, Harmonic 313 and Plastician. Pitchfork named Joker "2008 Producer Of The Year", a huge accolade for a producer who’s not only just out of his teens but also just out of the starting blocks.

Born to Grime and adopted by Dubstep, Joker is reluctant to be classified, but his soul drenched productions have been described as Jehri Curl Boogie and Wiley stuck in an elevator with Cameo. (((SHAKE))) presents Soulico

Circa 2000, the four members of Soulico were just friends that loved records, liked to party and had stockpiled massive collections of rare and unique Middle Eastern vinyl. DJs Sabbo, Rob, Shimmy Sonic and Wido would sometimes spin together, but mostly alone, rocking beats that masterfully fused hip hop, reggae and dancehall to Israeli folk and disco from the 1970's. The excitement surrounding their eclectic sound was more akin to that of the underground club scene budding in Europe than anything the Middle East had experienced prior. They decided to throw a party as a group, pooling the genius of four radical DJs into one red-hot set. But what to call it?

(((SHAKE))) is happy to welcome Soulico this Thursday!!

We are also celebrating Manny Duran's birthday--
Come to the back patio for some body art painting by artist Moises Exposito; bring a bathing suit to complement the hot Miami weather and get painted to then dance the night away.

We welcome with open arms the official after-party for Francesco Locastro's 305//NEON LIFE opening at the Kid Robot Gallery.
